Thief Is Not Alone
A powerful moral village story about theft, corruption, bribery, injustice, and the hidden hands that protect criminals.
Introduction
“Thief Is Not Alone” is the story of a real thief named Nouro. When Nouro became old, he used to tell people the strange stories of his thefts. His stories were not only about stealing, but also about the corrupt people who protected him.
Nouro often said that a thief becomes powerful when powerful men support him. This story shows how injustice grows when the thief, the leader, and the police become connected.
The Money in Moladad’s Shop
One day, Nouro was passing in front of Moladad’s shop in the village. Suddenly, his eyes fell on Moladad, who was sitting inside and counting the money he had earned from his shop.
Nouro quietly stepped back and stood in a corner. He waited to see where Moladad would hide the money. After counting it, Moladad wrapped the money in a cloth and placed it in an upper corner of the shop. Then he locked the shop and went home.
When Nouro saw that Moladad had left, he looked around carefully. After making sure that no one was watching, he broke the lock, entered the shop, took the hidden money, and disappeared.
The Thief Becomes Afraid
After walking some distance, Nouro began to think. He knew that the next morning Moladad would report the theft to the police. Nouro feared that he might be arrested.
At that time, Sultan Khan was the head of the area. Nouro went straight to him and told him everything.
Sultan Khan listened carefully and then said, “Give me my share. After that, no one will be able to arrest you.”
Nouro gave him some money. Sultan Khan put it in his pocket and told Nouro to visit the police chief and give him his share too.
The Police Chief Also Takes His Share
Nouro went to the police station. The police chief was a strong man with large mustaches. It was the first time Nouro had visited him, so the police chief did not recognize him.
Nouro said, “I have brought greetings from Sultan Khan.”
The police chief understood the message and asked, “You must have brought good news.”
Nouro replied, “Today I stole money from Moladad’s shop.”
The police chief said, “Give me my share. Leave the rest to me.”
Nouro gave him some money and returned home peacefully.
Moladad Discovers the Theft
The next morning, Moladad opened his shop and searched for his money. But the money was gone. He became extremely upset because it was the money he had earned through years of hard work.
Moladad went to Malik Muhammad, a man known as a Padbeen. A Padbeen was someone who could recognize people by their footprints.
Malik Muhammad examined the footprints around the shop and said that the footprints belonged to Nouro. He clearly told Moladad that Nouro had stolen the money.
The Fake Investigation
Moladad went to the police station and filed a report against Nouro. The police chief ordered Nouro’s arrest, but the matter had already been settled through bribery.
Nouro was arrested only to show Moladad that the police were taking action. During questioning, Nouro denied everything.
The next day, the police chief changed the direction of the case. He said that if Nouro had not stolen the money, then perhaps Moladad’s own son had stolen it.
Soon, the police arrested Moladad’s son.
Moladad Is Forced to Withdraw the Case
When Moladad heard that his son had been arrested, he became even more worried. He went to Sultan Khan and begged him to help release his son.
Sultan Khan pretended to feel sorry and said, “I will try to help you, but you must decide: do you want your money, or do you want your son?”
Moladad understood that he had no power against them. His money was already gone, and now his son was in danger too. So he agreed to withdraw the report.
On the fourth day, Moladad went to the police station with Sultan Khan. He withdrew the case, and his son was released. Nouro became free again.
The Bicycle Theft
After this incident, Nouro became even bolder. One day, a man named Pirjan bought a new bicycle from Quetta. When he came near the village, he parked his bicycle and went aside for a short moment.
Nouro was passing by and saw the new bicycle standing there. He took the opportunity, rode away on the bicycle, and disappeared.
When Pirjan returned, the bicycle was gone. He called Malik Muhammad Padbeen. Malik Muhammad examined the footprints and said that Nouro had stolen the bicycle.
Pirjan filed a report against Nouro. But Nouro had already taken the bicycle to Quetta, sold it, and returned after two days. As usual, he gave a share of the money to Sultan Khan and the police chief.
The Innocent Man Is Arrested
When the report was filed, the police arrested Nouro again. During questioning, Nouro said that he had been in Quetta and knew nothing about the bicycle.
The police chief then blamed Malik Muhammad Padbeen. He said that Malik Muhammad had committed the theft himself and falsely accused Nouro.
Malik Muhammad was arrested. His brother Karim Bakhsh went to Sultan Khan and requested his release. Sultan Khan spoke to the police chief, and after taking some money, they released Malik Muhammad on one condition: he must never name Nouro again.
Malik Muhammad agreed because he had no other choice.
Moral of the Story
A thief is not always powerful because of his own cleverness. Sometimes a thief becomes dangerous because powerful people protect him.
Theft will not end until the thief and the two forces that support him are also exposed and removed. When leadership and law protect criminals, justice becomes weak and innocent people suffer.
Final Message
This story is not only about Nouro. It is about every society where crime survives because of support from corrupt power. A single thief can steal money, but a protected thief can steal justice.
The real lesson is clear: if we want to stop crime, we must also stop the hidden hands that protect criminals.
